…Marija Magdalena anksti ryte nuskubėjo prie Jėzaus kapo ir pamatė, kad akmuo nuo angos nuristas ir kapas tuščias. Ji skubiai nubėgo pranešti apaštalams, jog kapas esąs atviras ir Jėzaus kūną kažkas bus paėme ir nežinia kur padėje. Gave tokia žinia, Apaštalai skubėjo prie kapo ieškoti Jėzaus. O Marija Magdelena, atėjusi pranešti apaštalams apie atvirą kapą, dar netikėjo, kad Jėzus yra prisikėles (Jono 20; 1-9).

Toronto tarptautinio oro uosto koplyčioje prie įėjimo durų yra padėta knyga, kurioje lankytojai kviečiami parašyti savo maldos intencijas arba komentarus. Esu skaitęs labai gražių maldų. Tuo pačiu ne viena maldos intencija yra piligrimų parašyta, jiems keliaujant į savo piligriminę ar vertybių ieškojimo kelionę, aplankant pasaulio šventas vietas. Tokiu būdu ši kelionė tampa dvasinio ieškojimo ar atsinaujinimo siekiu, panašiai kaip Marijos Magdelenos ir Apaštalų nuskubėjimas prie Kristaus tuščio kapo tapo tolesnis dvasinis ieškojimas.
Katalikų tradicijoje per neeilinius Popiežiaus paskelbtus metus, kaip šie Šventieji Gailestingumo metai, skirti pagerbti ir patirti Dievo gailestingumą, tikintiesiems siūloma leistis į piligriminę kelionę ir užsitarnauti atlaidus. Koks piligriminės kelionės tikslas? Piligrimystė parodo, kad, GAILESTINGUMAS, yra siektinas tikslas, reikalaujantis įsipareigojimo ir aukos. Piligriminė kelionė turi skatinti atsivertimą” (MV 14), rašo Popiežius Pranciškus.
“Mūsų širdis bus nerami, kol neatras poilsio Tavyje”, meldėsi Šv. Augustinas. Kiek tame yra tiesos! Juk žmogus per savo gyvenimo piligrimystę ieško laimės, meilės, pripažinimo, gyvenimo prasmės, Dievo… Deja, neretai tos laimės vieni ieško turte, kiti – horoskopų pranašystėse, kurios klaidina, veda į neviltį ir nepasitikėjimą Viešpačiu. Taip yra pridengiamas Jo Gailestingasis Veidas. “Jėzus Kristus yra Tėvo gailestingumo veidas. Šie žodžiai gali būti geras krikščionių tikėjimo slėpinio apibendrinimas. Tėvo gailestingumas tapo gyvas bei regimas ir pasiekė savo auksciausąjį tašką” (MV 1.).
Didžiosios savaitės liturginės apeigos bei tradicijos tepadeda mums visiems atpažinti Gailestingąjį Jėzaus Veidą. Prisikėlęs Kristus Šv. Velykų proga telaimina Jus, Jūsų šeimas, parapiją bei lietuvių bendruomenes ir visas mūsų piligrimines keliones.

… Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb. So she ran to the disciples… and told them, “They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don’t know where they put him.” So Peter and the other disciples… came to the tomb… and saw the burial cloths there… and saw and believed (her). For they did not yet understand the scripture that he had to rise from the dead (John 20:01-9).
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
At the entrance to the chapel at Toronto International Airport there is a visitors’ book where travellers are invited to write prayer intentions or comments. I have had the opportunity to read these beautiful prayers. Many of them have been written by pilgrims asking for God’s grace as they embark on their pilgrimage journeys to holy places around the world. Their journeys are like a spiritual quest or renewal, similar to the spiritual pilgrimage of Mary Magdalene and the Apostles seeking understanding after they discovered the empty tomb.
“The practice of pilgrimage has a special place in the Holy Year, because it represents the journey each of us makes in this life… Similarly, to reach the Holy Door in Rome or in any other place in the world, everyone, each according to his or her ability, will have to make a pilgrimage. This will be a sign that mercy is also a goal to reach and requires dedication and sacrifice. (May our) pilgrimage be an impetus to conversion: (may) we find the strength to embrace God’s mercy and dedicate ourselves to being merciful with others as the Father has been with us,” writes Pope Francis (Misericordiae Vultus 14).
“Our hearts will not be at peace until we find rest in You” prayed St. Augustine. How much truth there is in that statement! During life’s pilgrimage we seek happiness, love, recognition, the meaning of life, God… Sadly, some people search for happiness in earthly treasures; others in horoscope predictions. This mistakenly leads to despair and disbelief in the love of our Lord as his merciful face becomes hidden from us. “Jesus Christ is the face of the Father’s mercy. These words might well sum up the mystery of the Christian faith. Jesus of Nazareth, by his words, his actions, and his entire person reveals the mercy of God (MV 1).
May the liturgies and religious traditions of Holy Week help us to discover Jesus’ Merciful face. May the Risen Lord bless you, your families, parishes, communities and all your spiritual pilgrimages.
